The Original Exodus Convoy

To escape world-destroying solar flares and humanity’s certain extinction, ten hollowed-out asteroids—each a self-contained world—rose from Earth’s orbit in the mid-twenty-fourth century, engines blazing. This was the Exodus Convoy—a final gamble to carry the human story into the stars. Two and a half million souls—scientists, soldiers, builders, dreamers—departed the dying cradle of mankind at a quarter the speed of light, following the Milky Way’s spiral arm toward its luminous heart.

Centuries drifted past in the endless dark. Generations were born, lived, and died under artificial suns. Earth became myth. Then, in the twenty-ninth century, the unthinkable happened—First Contact—and the destiny of the Exodus Convoy shifted forever.

Why the Convoy matters to the story

The Nexus Refugia Convoy is us! The unification of mankind in the face of extinction created the impetus for the bold plan to escape Earth in ten hollowed-out asteroids. The story of the Exodus Convoy’s ensuing journey over many centuries and through the vastness of space might be told one day, but we join them in the 33rd century. The convoy has grown vast with numerous alien races joining with humanity in the search for a new home. The convoy is renamed The Nexus Refugia—a mixed civilization united in the desire for peace and hope. What happens throughout the book series is a chilling reminder that peace is fragile, enemies lurk both inside and without, and unity can be so easily fractured by unseen forces.
